Burnout is real : Let's Manage It!

It’s easy to get down on yourself when your tired, busy, and stressed and that can be very normal come the end of a big training cycle. It is also very easy to get into a rut, routine is awesome but it can be a very tricky balance. Burnout manifests its in many different forms and sometimes you can’t even put your finger on it; some of the triggers for it are a lack of motivation, feeling of inadequacy, training feels like a burden, lack of sleep, etc. The good news is that while it isn’t always preventable, there is no magical piece to preventing burnout, but it can be managed and maybe the chance of it happening decreased!

4 Tips to Improving Your Mental Imagery Skills

Visualization (mental Imagery) is very powerful. It evokes an appeal to our better selves, a call to become something more than we are at that moment, and it initiates an sense of emotion that continues to help drive us towards our goals. The key is to rehearse the performance in your head. You don’t want to try to picture the entire day or moment all in one shot but take turns practicing visualizing each piece of it, no different than you can’t tackle an entire day in one moment you have to do the same with your visualization. Couer d'Alene 70.3 Race Report

Whew!!! What a season! Four races starting around 8-9 weeks pregnant and ending almost ten weeks later at 19+ weeks it was not how I envisioned my season to go when I planned it out in January of 2019.  All in all I am extremely happy with the race and the day in general. My season ended with a bang at one of my favorite 70.3’s on the circuit, Ironman Couer d’Alene 70.3.  This is my favorite for many reasons; its challenging, its basically a hometown race for me, the run is fast, and the spectators and volunteers are AMAZING making the atmosphere of this race unbelievable for a small town.

Being fast in an Ironman (both 1406. and 70.3 distances) really comes down to who can to who is the one who slows down the least. It is very common that around the late stages of a race all of the sudden the wheels fall off and pace drops. Running off the bike seems so easy, you just run right? So why is it that you as you work through your training all of the sudden it seems like you are getting slower during your running. Texas 70.3 Race Recap

Texas 70.3 kicked off the racing season with a bang, complete with terrible swims, strong bikes, and a really fun photo finish!!! You never really know how the first race of the season is going to go especially when it is one that is so early season and Texas 70.3 was a great one to test out the legs!

Importance of Post Activity Fueling

Recovery practices are vast from the sleep that you get, compression, baths, massages, supplements, nutrition, and so much more. There are two post activity (training) windows for fueling towards recovery. The first window is the 30 minute window immediately following training and the second window follow immediately after during the next 90 minutes after that 30 minute window.
