Positive Post - Week 7
Its been a little bit since I have a posted a positive post - I'm actually wondering if I change the title to Things I'm Thankful For? As it seems as though the positive thing is something I am merely thankful for - positivism and thankfulness do seem to run hand and hand. What are your thoughts?
This week's positive post popped into my head as I was walking away from swim practice last night. With the crazy high goals I have for this year's races I have put myself into the fast lane at swim practice when I attend. This is a massive step outside of my comfort zone as one) I have very little confidence in my swimming ability and two) I felt I was imposing on a space I didn't belong. However, the last two times I stepped out of my comfort zone and put myself into that zone I've been able to hang on. I'm not in the front by any means and I have to work very hard to keep up but I have not gotten dropped or lapped!
As I was walking away from swim practice, totally exhausted and barely able to move my arms, I found myself looking back to when I first started going to these practices when I could barely keep up with the medium group. Now three years later I am swimming with the big kids!
When I thought of this I instantly thought of two things and it is these two things that I wanted to share with you today:
- Hard work DOES pay off. I was not a good swimmer when I started this triathlon journey and while I am not the best swimmer still I have made a ton of progress through merely putting in the work! Stay patient I promise it will show and it will come.
- Stepping out of your comfort zone always forces you to grow. It was a great reminder to myself to keep stepping outside of my comfort zone in order to continue to grow, learn, and push myself to new limits.
Happy Thursday everyone and keep working hard, living, and loving life to the fullest!!!
